At one time, wrought iron was used to adorn the castles of Kings and Queens in royal elegance as well as being used for a variety of outdoor items. Wrought iron is a pleasantly enduring material that has many uses. You can choose from some lovely patterns of wrought iron for your window treatments, such as wrought iron curtain rods, drapery rods and drapery hardware to create a sturdy and rustically beautiful ambiance in any.

The addition of wrought iron curtain rods can add a bit of drama to a classic country home. If contemporary is more your style, wrought iron drapery hardware and rods can make your home more inviting. Regardless of style, wrought iron adds a touch of class.

Lowering Cholesterol And Its Risks

by Sue Burchill

As many as 50% of Americans are reported to have elevated, or at least borderline, levels of cholesterol. Your risk of having a stroke or heart attack is greatly increased when your cholesterol level is high.

Cholesterol is naturally produced within the liver. It creates some types of hormones, forms cell membranes and helps in the body’s digestion of fats. All of the body’s cells contain cholesterol as well as the bloodstream, brain, muscles, nerves and skin.

Besides the natural cholesterol the liver makes, we get even more from lots of the foods that we eat. Although, besides our diet there are other factors that can elevate cholesterol like stress, heredity, weight and even age.

There are 2 types of cholesterol, often called good and bad. The good cholesterol, HDL, returns it to the liver where it can be broken down. The bad cholesterol, LDL, acts in just the opposite way. It ferries cholesterol away from the liver and into the bloodstream.

Every gardener needs gardening equipment. At least that’s what we tell ourselves as we buy that new ultra-light shovel that’s on sale this week! The fact is, not every gardener has every tool they need and most of us make do with what we’ve got. Improvisation is the key here.

But if you are serious about growing a garden this year, there are several things you absolutely need to have. A shovel, a hoe and a rake are three of the basics. Pruning scissors are another valuable tool that you should add to your arsenal as soon as you can.

As the years wore on I found that I had indeed collected many an essential piece of gardening equipment, and now find to my dismay that my shed is full to overflowing with tools. The best ones that I have though are a very old pair of comfortable gardening gloves, and my trusty, old kitchen knife that I had brought out one day, and just never replaced.

People the World over are searching for wellness.

Wellness is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as “The condition of good physical and mental health, especially when maintained by proper diet, exercise and habits”. So, understanding wellness can help us live life to the full.

Ideally, wellness should be easy to achieve. But the stress of modern day living and particularly diet, can adversely affect our journey to wellness.

Our food choices can adversely affect Wellness in several ways. These would include Fast food diets that are high in fat and low in nutrients, overly processed convenience foods and a lack of dietary fibre from fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Also, not enough healthy sources of protein in our diet will affect wellness, as protein is needed to support muscle and bone tissues.

However, optimum wellness can still be achieved and maintained by making small changes in diet and lifestyle: these changes may help to reverse any adverse effects of wrong food choices.

Diabetes: The Chromium Connection

by Julia Hanf

Although diabetes is far from a new age phenomenon, modern-day lifestyles and flawed food habits have had a large part to play in influencing the onset of diabetes in the vulnerable, while making management a lot more difficult for those who have already fallen prey to this disease. Until recent times, diabetes treatment was largely limited to medication and insulin injections, which have drawn themselves equal numbers of detractors as they have attracted followers. In light of the often detrimental side and after-effects allopathic medication can have on he overall health and wellbeing of diabetics, researchers have begun to pay a lot more attention to supplementing diabetes treatment with nutritional aids and overall lifestyle changes to make management and recovery a less tedious and a lot more effortless. One such nutritional supplement that has caught the eye of researchers is chromium.
